“Let them be given also, as they advance in age and maturity, a positive and prudent sexual education” – Pope Paul VI.

Relationships, Sex and Health Education is thoughtfully constructed and delivered at St. Joseph’s. We ensure that RSHE is relevant to the context, rooted deeply in Catholic teaching, promotes the dignity of the person and promotes both the sanctity of marriage and sex as part of marriage.
The RSHE curriculum is quality assured regularly by the Senior Leadership team. We offer an annual Parental Consultation evening which is open to students and parents across all key stages.
Whilst all form tutors deliver some elements of the RSHE course in accordance with the 10:10 resources, the most contentious elements of the course are delivered solely by the Religious Education department. Teachers of Religious Education have received expert CPD training by specialist RSHE leads to equip them with the extra support to deliver the most controversial topics.
Students also have the opportunity to speak with guest speakers such as in Sixth Form students interview Nigel to discuss topics first hand such as “living with HIV and busting the myths’ surrounding life with HIV.
