“We must discern the sign of the times” – Pope Francis on Synodality

Our late Holy Father, Pope Francis, was a massive advocate of synodality. He constantly stressed the importance of discerning the ‘sign of the times’ by coming together to discuss, evaluate and strategise the future of our Holy Catholic Church. Unless we do this, we cannot as a Church move forward together in joy, love and hope.

Inspired by Pope Francis, we decided to create the ‘Faith Council Leaders’ group who meet together to evaluate the outcomes, provision and leadership of Catholic life and mission, religious education and collective worship.

As a school, we have given these students the power to decide the future priorities of our school and as a leadership team we have become answerable to them.

The Faith Council Leaders is constituted of student volunteers across Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 and they meet to undertake student Catholic Self Evaluation Documents giving us frank and honest feedback on the strengths and areas of development for each of the three areas. We then take these ideas and action points, endeavour to implement them and report back.

We are truly grateful for the time and talents of our wonderful Faith Council Leaders who lead us with their God-given gifts and talents.

Faith Council Leaders are commissioned before beginning their ministry. They meet in our Senior Leadership Conference room and make major decisions for the future of our school.

If anyone else would like to join them, please speak to Mr. Young.
