GCSE and A-Level Design technology: When people ask ‘what is design technology?’, we answer with another question; ‘what isn’t?’.
Quite simply, Design Technology encompasses a huge range of design areas. Design technology allows students to study the theory behind products and product evolution and a wide range of material areas and manufacturing processes that would enable students to pursue such career paths with confidence.
Students also manage their own design project based on an exam board brief, where they can respond creatively and explore modern and traditional manufacturing and design techniques. Students who have studied Design at St Joseph’s have gone on to study architecture, automotive design, product design, jewellery design and graphic design.
