Food preparation and nutrition: During KS3 students are introduced to how to plan and prepare a variety of sweet and savoury dishes in a safe, sensible and hygienic manner. They are given information on healthy eating, budgeting and the benefits of eating a balanced diet. They are also shown that cooking should be fun and are encouraged to experiment and explore new methods of making products.
Fashion and Textiles: Student’s develop knowledge and confidence within a wide variety of Textiles contexts. Understanding the working properties of a range of different fabrics and how to follow plans of make and patterns to produce a wide variety of accessories and garments. Students become comfortable operating the sewing machine and are encouraged to demonstrate creativity, flair and imagination in this vibrant and exciting subject.
