Sixth Form

St. Joseph’s Sixth Form College has established itself over many years as a thriving and successful centre of post-16 education provision in South Tyneside. In St. Joseph’s you will find a welcoming and purposeful learning environment providing a wide variety of academic and vocational courses alongside an engaging enrichment programme.

As a Catholic Sixth Form College our approach to learning is based on the belief that each person is uniquely gifted by God. For this reason, we create opportunities for students to reflect on and develop their gifts so that they achieve their potential academically and mature into young adults ready to play their part fully when they progress to university, employment or further training.

I hope you enjoy reading our prospectus and I invite you to come and visit our excellent facilities. You

can be assured of a warm welcome.

Frank O’Neill
Headteacher

Our Sixth Form is unique – it offers opportunities for exceptional academic and vocational achievement,a range of enrichment activities and a fantastic pastoral support system. Our staff have years of A level teaching experience, supporting students through their post 16 studies, their university applications and/or their transition into employment or apprenticeships. Our students have an impressive history of gaining outstanding exam results, securing places at Oxford and Cambridge Universities and starting their journeys to become doctors, dentists, nurses, teachers, lawyers, engineers, nurses… whatever it is that they have aspired to be.

We welcome all students who meet our entry requirements and in fact more than half of our current Sixth Form have attended other schools in Year 11. So, come and see what we have to offer.
